Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Transport Manager to oversee the transport operations for our accessible community transport service. This service caters to vulnerable adults, SEND children, and the Islington Adult Learning Disability Partnership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management: Lead, motivate, and supervise the team, ensuring the preparation and prioritisation of work programs and the achievement of realistic targets.
- Contracts: Develop and manage contracts and service level agreements, ensuring compliance with Council Standing Orders.
- Operations: Provide operational transport services for Education and Social Services, managing over 50 vehicles and up to 150 staff, 24/7.
- Safeguarding: Stay current with all safeguarding legislation and regulations.
- Service Provision: Manage transport provisions for various community groups and services, including school meals and taxi frameworks.
- Financial Management: Monitor income, certify payments, and manage budgets effectively.
- Procurement: Initiate procurement processes and manage a Management Information System for the service.
- Reporting: Collate and provide information for reports to Council Committees and other bodies.
- Training: Develop and procure relevant training for staff on all transport-related issues.
- Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and legislation.
Person Specification:
- Experience: Proven experience in operational management, contract management, and fleet operations.
- Qualifications: CPC Operator license qualification – Passenger Transport.
- Skills: Strong leadership, financial management, and communication skills.
- Knowledge: Understanding of national policies, practices, and laws related to transport operations.
- Commitment: Adherence to the Council’s core values of public service, quality, equality, and empowerment.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to work shift hours, including early mornings and late evenings.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Clean driving license.
