The company

One of the UK's best and busiest Main Contractors with a group turnover of over £1bn. They have developed an impressive number of blue-chip clients across the UK and on top of that have gained a sterling reputation as a contractor. This reputation has excelled the company into numerous markets including the: Commercial, Industrial and Residential sectors where they have constructed projects valuing from £10m - £100m+.

They are currently in an excellent position with an order book topping £1bn for this year. The company prides themselves in creating and maintaining valuable relationships with both clients and sub-contractors. This is evident as the company carries out a tremendous amount of repeat business and use many of the same sub-contractors they have since their early days of trading.

The Role

In your new role as Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will report into and work closely with the lead QS out on site, on new build projects of values between £20m-£100m. As the role progresses you will be given the opportunity to manage your own construction packages under the guidance and leadership of the lead QS and will be aiming to climb the career ladder. Typical roles and responsibilities can be found below:

1. Liaise with the site teams and take the lead with contract administration and record keeping
2. Identify opportunities to maximise cost/value management
3. Assist with the procurement and management of subcontract packages
4. Assist with the internal valuations/CVR/End Life Forecasts
5. Assist with preparation of contractual claims
6. Measure and assess the work undertaken and then submit detailed, accurate and timely applications
7. Support the project team in all commercial matters
