AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Data Center Community is looking for an extraordinary individual with proven leadership and management skills to support our data center operations in the London region.

As a Data Center Operations Cluster Manager, you will be responsible for leading a large organization, Data Centre Operations Managers, and their teams who own data center infrastructure including the operational availability of network and server systems at scale.

The ideal candidate for this role will understand data center IT infrastructure and Amazon Web Services and understand how the two coexist. If this understanding is contextual, you will be served well by your experience.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 front-line supervisors depending on location) and 40-80 DCO Techs within Regional Data Centers.
- Attain organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
- Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
- Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
- Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills perspective including mentoring and training.
- Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe.
- Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team including data center managers and data center operations technicians.
- Plan and execute the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs, including the network and server rack infrastructure.
- Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Several years management experience in an operations, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
- Several years experience implementing LEAN/Six Sigma methodology (continuous improvement, 5 Whys, Root Cause analysis, etc).
- Several years of experience in working with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, and experience with cabling infrastructure best practices within a data center-based environment.
- Experience managing large-scale distributed systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.
- LEAN Certification/Belts.
- PMP/PMI certification.
- Several years experience managing geographically dispersed teams in mission-critical environments.
