Job description

My client is seeking an experienced systems support engineer to perform various night shift duties, including backups and batch processing, file transfers, pro-active monitoring of both the network and physical components within their Data Centres, and the monitoring of incoming e-mails or alerts, with a view to raising out-of-hour incidents to the respective support group.

Candidates must have the following skills / experience:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, both written and verbally.
  2. Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and show initiative.
  3. Ability to balance competing priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.
  4. Ability to demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills.
  5. Ability to respect sensitive and confidential data.
  6. Ability to follow written operational procedures.
  7. Responsibility to perform duties under the Council's H&S Policy.
  8. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  9. Experience of developing and sustaining constructive working relationships.
  10. Understanding of and adherence to the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy.
  11. Willingness to participate in training and development to ensure continuous improvement.

Shifts currently cover 6 nights Sunday to Friday from 18:00 to 07:00 (37 hours over 3 nights).
