Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Float Pool team. The Float Pool CNA will provide essential care to patients across various units within the healthcare facility, adapting to different environments and patient needs with professionalism and ease. This position requires a highly flexible individual who can quickly acclimate to new settings and work effectively as part of a dynamic team. Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the nursing assistant performs various duties in the care and treatment of patients in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  1. Provides direct care to patients in accordance with their individualized care plans.
  2. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  3. Assists in the transportation and transfer of patients, ensuring comfort and safety during movement.
  4. Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to the nursing team.
  5. Completes accuchecks as directed.
  6. Ensures accurate and prompt documentation.
  7. Assists with patient hygiene and comfort measures, including turning and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
  8. Supports patients with feeding and hydration needs, adhering to dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities.
  9. Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and promote positive patient outcomes.
  10. Completes hourly rounds to assigned patients and anticipates patient needs, responding promptly to call lights and patient requests.
  11. Provides emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions.
  12. Maintains a clean and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness of patient rooms.
  13. Adheres to infection control protocols and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff.
  14. Participates in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  2. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  1. Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  2. Able to keep confidential information regarding patients and team members.
  3. Able to withstand crisis situations.
  4. Customer service skills for patients, team members, and visitors.
  5. Knowledge and experience with electronic health records.

Credentials

  1. Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in DE.
  2. BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification.

Education

  1. High school diploma preferred OR current high school student with CNA license (work schedule in compliance with the State of Delaware Department of Labor Regulations).

Other Information

Ability to read and write and perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to work under pressure; able to relate to patients, hospital staff, and visitors. Ability to perform routine repetitive duties using several well-defined procedures under close supervision. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
