Supply Chain Director
Multi-site role – VPK Packaging
Based in Desborough, Northamptonshire £six figure basic + bonus + car
UK & Ireland travel required
This is an excellent opportunity to join the VPK Packaging Group in a role which will work with the Senior Management Team, providing leadership for the UK & Ireland Supply Chain strategy across Master Planning/S&OP, Procurement, Customer Services and Pricing & Tenders.
Part of the highly successful VPK Group, which operates from over 70 plants globally with a sales turnover of c€1.8 billion, VPK UK & Ireland is a leading manufacturer of sustainable, high-performance corrugated packaging. With 7 sites, the UK & Ireland is a key strategic region within the Group, with ongoing expansion through a combination of £multi-million capital expenditure, further acquisitions, and JV partnerships.
A Supply Chain Director is now required to drive a multi-functional strategy, taking a ‘hands-on’ approach where required, to achieve further profitable growth by developing robust S&OP and supply chain/commercial processes via SAP, driving change to assist commercial and wider business decision-making and ultimate profitability. With approximately 45 people across the functions, you will lead, motivate, and create high-performing autonomous teams capable of delivering significant improvement across the region.
The appointee will be responsible for developing a clear view on incoming cost and market trends, ensuring there are robust controls over inbound material cost management and leading material optimisation programs. In addition, the role is also responsible for driving profitability through the use of the S&OP process and making optimal use of available capacity across the manufacturing network, as well as leading the Customer Service function and delivering on our customer intimacy strategy ensuring we are close to our customers.
Capable of delivering effective change management, you will demonstrate agility, energy, and enthusiasm achieving success through leading and inspiring teams to engage and contribute. Comprehensive experience and understanding of all areas of the supply chain is required including S&OP, demand planning and scheduling, customer services, procurement, cost forecasting and reporting, cost control, and risk management.
Ideally degree level, candidates will have multi-functional Senior Leadership experience including supply chain, operations, procurement, and commercial skills, gained in a fast-paced, multi-site business. This role may also be of interest to a General Manager seeking a more focused, strategic functional role. Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment in a paper/packaging/FMCG industry of similar scale is essential.
