Position: Head of Academic Quality Assurance and Compliance

Salary: Competitive

Location: ON-SITE

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday (9am - 6pm)

Contract Type: Permanent

Overall Purposes:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Academic Quality Assurance and Compliance to lead our efforts in ensuring the highest standards of academic quality, regulatory compliance, and institutional effectiveness. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the college's quality assurance framework and ensuring alignment with relevant statutory and sector standards, including Office for Students and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Framework:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain a robust quality assurance system to ensure academic excellence and consistency across all programmes.
  2. Lead the design and review of policies, procedures, and practices to support continuous improvement.
  3. Conduct regular internal audits of academic standards and learning outcomes.

Regulatory Compliance:

  1. Ensure the college remains compliant with all relevant regulatory bodies, including Office for Students, Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), along with policies and strategies developed by UK Graduate College.
  2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative and sector changes, advising senior leadership on implications and necessary adjustments.

Strategic Leadership:

  1. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies for institutional improvement and growth.
  2. Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on quality assurance and compliance matters.
  3. Act as the primary liaison with external bodies, preparing for and managing inspections and reviews.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  1. Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of performance data to monitor institutional quality.
  2. Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders, regulators, and accrediting bodies.
  3. Address areas of non-compliance or underperformance, developing and implementing action plans.

Staff Training and Development:

  1. Deliver training and workshops on quality assurance and compliance for academic and administrative staff.
  2. Foster a culture of quality and accountability across the institution.

Key Skills and Qualifications for Successful Applicant:

  1. Qualification of Post Graduation Degree from any reputed University with any certification related to the post from any quality assurance awarding body.
  2. Proven experience in a senior quality assurance or compliance role within education, preferably in higher education in the UK.
  3. Appropriate understanding of regulatory frameworks, including Office for Students, Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and other relevant bodies.
  4. Ability to manage complex workloads and motivate a team, working with staff at all levels to ensure centrally agreed policy is implemented and adopted fairly and consistently across all faculties and Programs.
  5. Have excellent oral and written skills with the ability to produce clear policies, procedures, reports and presentations, and convey complex information with confidence.
  6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
