Aspiring Mental Health Nurse

This role is ideal if you have career aspirations in becoming a Mental Health Nurse and later specializing in disorders such as ADHD, Autism, OCD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, SPD, BD, Schizophrenia, and Neuro-Psychiatry.

We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Mental Health Nurse to support children with moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This school is based in Hailsham for children aged 4-16 and specializes in SEMH to provide exceptional education and extra help for traumatized children and young people.

You will be helping children who have come from trauma/neglected backgrounds, challenging behavior, ADHD or Autism, and who have developed mental health issues due to their needs, requiring additional support to improve their social, emotional, and mental well-being.

Responsibilities of an Aspiring Mental Health Nurse:

  1. Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience for students.
  2. Ability to perform conflict resolution and de-escalation.
  3. Provide behavior and pastoral support.
  4. Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
  5. Adopt a practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
  6. Willingness to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
  7. Ensure the safeguarding of students in line with procedures.
  8. Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.

Requirements of an Aspiring Mental Health Nurse:

  1. Impose patience and understanding.
  2. Have an understanding of challenging behavior.
  3. Always be adaptable in any given situation.
  4. Ability to develop trusting and positive relationships with students.
  5. A psychology degree is desirable but not necessary.
