The opportunity:

As part of the Catastrophe Management team, you will be supporting Markel International with pre-underwriting analytics, class and entity level reporting and ad-hoc analysis to support underwriting decisions.

The role may be required to work over a number of lines of business but will be focused on supporting the Natural Catastrophe team.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Assist in production of quarterly divisional reports
2. Build and maintain a strong relationship with divisional underwriters
3. Provide ad hoc reports for underwriting portfolio analysis
4. Use third party catastrophe models and in-house tools for pre-underwriting analysis
5. Present results and ideas to stakeholders and underwriting teams
6. Collaborate closely with colleagues in other Markel offices
7. Liaise closely with outsourcing partners
8. Assist Catastrophe Manager on ad-hoc projects

Our must-haves:

1. A strong academic record to graduate standard or equivalent – Science, Maths or Geography are desirable
2. Good MS Office skills, specifically Excel skills
3. Coding skills are desirable but not required
4. Demonstrate sound numerical and organisational skills
5. The ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
