The Assistant Quantity Surveyor role


We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Design & Build contractor. As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, the role will involve supporting the Senior QS on all commercial responsibilities for a £20 Million new build project in Oxfordshire.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor role and responsibilities

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor position will be responsible to a Senior QS - assisting on all commercial aspects of projects including:

  1. Use of company systems and processes and applying best practice.
  2. Subcontractor procurement from enquiry to order placement.
  3. Manage subcontractor accounts from commencement of works through to negotiation and settlement of final account.
  4. Prepare timely submission to client for payments.
  5. Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports.
  6. Liaise with and develop supplier and subcontractor relationships.
  7. Manage risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  8. Liaise with and develop client relationships.
  9. Work closely with the Project Manager and operations teams.
  10. Prepare all final accounts.

As a wider business, they undertake predominantly new build projects across a broad range of sectors including education, local authority, leisure, and commercial sectors with project values of between £2-40 Million.

The business has a turnover approaching £200 Million per annum, and they enjoy a large volume of repeat business on both single and two-stage Design & Build projects. Requirements

Successful applicants will have a proven track record of undertaking the role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor who undertakes projects of a similar size and nature. In addition, successful applicants should hold a degree-level qualification in a construction discipline.
