Job description

A school is looking to appoint a Day Care Residential Support Worker who is enthusiastic, dedicated, caring and highly motivated to support children and young people who have Severe Learning Disabilities, Autism and Complex Care to achieve their full potential.

SALARY: £12.12 - £12.46 per Hour + Generous Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Norton Disney, Lincolnshire, East Midlands

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: On average 38.25 Hours per Week

To work on a three-week rolling rota, with a combination of early shifts between the hours of (7am – 2.15pm, 7am - 3.30pm) and late shifts (1.15pm – 9.30pm). Your rota will include one full day for training every three weeks.

JOB OVERVIEW

Working as a Day Care Residential Support Worker, you will work alongside senior staff and colleagues to provide guidance, support and encouragement to pupils both within the home, the school and whilst undertaking off-site activities.

As a Day Care Residential Support Worker, you will enable children and young people to develop by providing practical physical, cultural, social and emotional development, using a person-centred approach in order that they can achieve their full potential.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The school is an independent specialist residential care and education organisation that provides exceptional residential care and education to meet the needs of children and young people aged between 11 and 19 years who have severe and profound learning disabilities and who may also be on the autism spectrum, have complex care needs and behavioural concerns. The school is situated on the outskirts of Norton Disney in Lincolnshire. The school’s ethos is to provide warm, safe and nurturing environments where children and young people entrusted to them are supported and enabled to achieve their full potential in all areas of their social, emotional, physical and academic development.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Day Care Residential Support Worker will include:

  1. Support the children and young people to meet their needs in the most appropriate way by following individual care plans and positive behaviour support plans set by the highly qualified therapist team.
  2. Promote children and young people’s choice, independence, dignity, privacy and fulfilment of other rights.
  3. Maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our children and young people first; this will involve domestic duties.
  4. Work with the staff team across all settings to always safeguard the children and young people in care.
  5. Actively promote learning during all programmes and activities during residential, leisure and educational situations.
  6. Effectively support the children / young people and staff to manage challenging behaviour as it arises, using the approved approaches defined within their Positive Behaviour Support plan and Sherwood training.
