We're passionate about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Simply put, this a great place to be. So, when it comes to your life outside of work, ask us about our flexible and remote working policies designed to help you get the most out of life.

Your purpose:

We are looking for a range of staff who will take on either Principal, Associate or Chief Geotechnical Engineering roles in our Ground Engineering business. We are looking for staff who have the leadership and technical capabilities to drive complex geotechnical projects, work in a technical review function and support AtkinsRéalis’ colleagues to increase their understanding about advanced geotechnical principles.

The successful candidates will be expected to hold a pivotal leadership role in our Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines. These form the core of our technical capability, ensuring that AtkinsRéalis continues to push the envelope of our geotechnical design and modelling as clients continually demand more from us.

The candidate should have:

  • A good academic background with an engineering degree and ideally an MSc or PhD in a related subject, holding Chartered status.
  • Good experience in geotechnical analysis and design, including seismic geotechnical analysis and design for shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformational analyses, seismic response of dams and embankments, liquefaction assessment, and ground improvement.
  • Experience in leading numerical modelling teams with advanced numerical modelling software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D) and analyzing results.
  • Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection for such models, soil-structure interaction, and experience with numerical modelling software (FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D) in addition to standard geotechnical software.
  • Experience in validation of geotechnical numerical analysis and numerical model calibration, including managing the process of geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment.
  • Capability to drive digital innovation and further AtkinsRéalis’ capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to manage the delivery of exemplary written documents and review the work of colleagues.
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas, and a valid UK driving licence.
