Join the North East and Yorkshire Pharmaceutical Purchasing Consortium (NEYPPC) as an Unlicensed Category Procurement Specialist! This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your procurement expertise within a collaborative NHS environment, making a tangible difference to patient care.

NEYPPC is a not-for-profit organisation hosted by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a hybrid role with regional travel within the North East and Yorkshire and occasional travel outside the region.

Main duties of the job

As an Unlicensed Category Procurement Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of complex contracts for unlicensed medicines, ensuring compliance with NHS and UK Public Procurement regulations. You'll lead end-to-end procurement projects, from market analysis and supplier evaluation to contract award and management.

Your role will involve collaborating with NHS Trusts, clinical teams, and suppliers to drive cost efficiencies, improve service delivery, and implement best procurement practices. Additionally, you'll contribute to category workplans, perform data analysis, and ensure robust financial monitoring and reporting. With your strategic insight, you will identify opportunities for further collaboration and value generation.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Management: Lead the management of contracts within the unlicensed medicines portfolio, ensuring best value for money and compliance with all relevant procurement regulations.
  • Procurement Leadership: Support end-to-end procurement processes, including market analysis, supplier evaluation, and contract award.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS Trusts, clinical teams, and suppliers.
  • Strategic Development: Contribute to category workplans and identify new opportunities for procurement collaboration and cost efficiencies.
  • Data Analysis: Collate, validate, and analyse complex data sets to support decision-making and monitor contract compliance.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure accurate financial monitoring, produce management reports, and advise on regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support the implementation of best practices and recommend innovative solutions to procurement challenges.
What We're Looking For

We are seeking applicants with:

  • Significant experience in procurement, ideally within a public sector or NHS environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Public Procurement Legislation and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage complex procurement projects and contracts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach.
  • MCIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals or healthcare procurement would be advantageous, but not essential.

  • Procurement experience gained with the NHS or other Public Sector organisations
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level within a related subject area or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development i.e., MCIPS
  • Post Graduate Diploma within a related subject area or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • Recognised project management qualification or equivalent experience
