Job description

At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer within our Helicopters Division. Purpose of the Role:

Construct plans of manufacture and assembly sequences and processes in order to achieve the required standard, product quality, budget hours and delivery schedule (Quality Cost Delivery) as defined by Programme Management.

Produce work instructions, Bills of Material, tools and technical documentation to support the manufacturing process.

Please note this role is JFF Level 4 - Manufacturing.

WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

  1. Create Manufacturing Bills of Material (BOM) to define the materials or parts required for the manufacture of parts and assemblies.
  2. Creation of manufacturing routing, process sketches and stage drawings to support the manufacturing process, identifies accurate specification for material requirements.
  3. Responsible and accountable for the accurate and timely availability of Work Instructions to support the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  4. Process design changes and introduce into current WIP or assembly process.
  5. Identification and implementation of improvements to the manufacture or build process and build logic.
  6. Amend work instructions within the operational areas on the shop floor to rectify errors and keep manufacturing on schedule.
  7. Represent Manufacturing Engineering in a Shop Support role.
  8. Compile SAP Production Orders to manufacture or rework components.
  9. Maintenance of the Manufacturing Engineering routings and process documentation.
  10. Responsible for identification and requesting of Tooling fixture and gauges required for manufacture and assemblies.
  11. Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes and or assembly processes.
  12. To provide estimates of production times to enable accurate capacity planning and cost estimating.
  13. Plan activities, review and report on progress and status of work to provide clear statement of position, issues and actions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  1. Educated to at least HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline and/or a time served apprenticeship.
  2. Engineer background from an Aerospace or high integrity mechanical manufacturing environment.
  3. Some post-training experience desirable and some ME experience.
  4. Working knowledge of CATIA (V5) & ENOVIA.
  5. Working knowledge of SAP (ECC6) and the modules applicable to the Manufacturing Engineering function.
  6. Understand the principles of MRP.
  7. Familiar with the use of Microsoft package software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  8. Familiar with the Engineering change process and documentation.
  9. Team worker and good communicator with influencing skills.
  10. Familiar with proven analysis and problem solving techniques.
  11. Familiar with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
