Rotational Midwife

Are you a Band 6 Midwife / experienced Band 5 Midwife looking for an exciting change?

We are looking for experienced midwives to join our expanding maternity family. As a Band 6 Midwife at Birmingham Women's Hospital, you will have the opportunity to be part of a flexible rotation pattern between our Inpatient wards and Intrapartum Services. The amount of time in each area can be tailored to you.

In addition, we have core roles available within our Intrapartum teams such as Core Delivery Suite, or you may want to include Enhanced Maternal Care Team or Birth Centre within a rotation.

Main duties of the job

Providing clinical care within the maternity unit as a Rotational Band 6 Midwife or Core Intrapartum Services Midwife. Please see job description and personal specification for further detail.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• Registered Midwife BSc or equivalent degree
• Evidence of professional progression
• UK NMC Midwife registration
• Mentorship

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Evidence of completion of band 5 preceptorship programme
• Effective internet and IT skills
• IV drug administration
• Epidural Management
• Perineal suturing
• CTG interpretation
• Able to demonstrate awareness of research related to midwifery practice
• Positive attitude to change and inspires confidence
• Cannulation and suturing knowledge and skills

Desirable

• Waterbirth

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential

• Demonstrates evidence of commitment to professional development.
• Demonstrates an awareness of role of facilitator and evidence of ability to educate others.
• Evidence of good written and oral communication skills
