Tendring District Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Planning Policy Officer to join our dedicated and professional Policy Team, or a qualified Planning Officer with the desire to move into a Planning Policy role.
We are a small, efficient team that works closely with colleagues in the Planning department, across the wider Council, and with other public bodies, neighbouring authorities and statutory stakeholders.
Our collaborative approach ensures that the Local Plan and other planning policies are effective in addressing the District’s planning needs and challenges.
Tendring District is a coastal peninsular which has exciting opportunities ahead. Our holistic and comprehensive planning policies, and the Council’s declaration of a climate emergency has meant that policies focusing on sustainability and resilience are a key focus of the Local Plan.
Our ideal candidate will have proven organisational and technical skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A degree in Town Planning or a related field is required, and we are looking for someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
In return, we offer flexible working arrangements to support a positive work-life balance, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, generous leave entitlement, and support for ongoing professional development and training. Additional benefits include free parking, discounted corporate gym membership, and various salary sacrifice initiatives.
If you think you’d be a great fit for our team, we would love to hear from you. In the first instance, please submit your CV and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to humanresources@tendringdc.gov.uk.
