The role & about the client:
ITS Construction is recruiting on behalf of a reputable main contractor for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Estimator to join their Pre-Construction Team based in Guildford. This is an exciting opportunity to develop key estimating skills and become a valued member of a dynamic team. The company undertakes diverse projects, including traditional refurbishments and complex new build design and build schemes, with values up to 20m.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Checking and confirming receipt of tender documentation.

• Creating bills of quantities using the Conquest estimating system.

• Producing and coordinating information for tender settlements, including:

  • Tender analysis adjudication sheet

  • Preliminary breakdown

  • Sub-contractors' comparison

  • Identifying risks and opportunities

• Exploring alternative methods of carrying out works to enhance competitiveness.

• Preparing and handing over tender information in a clear and coherent manner to ensure buy-in from the project team.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• A friendly and professional approach, upholding the company's values of friendliness, efficiency, and commitment.

• Excellent analytical, organisational, and administrative skills to produce high-quality bids.

• Strong ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

• Effective teamwork and communication skills.

• A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.

• Knowledge of the Southwest supply chain (beneficial but not essential).

Experience:

• Transitioning from a Trainee Estimator role or at least two years in a similar position across various construction sectors.

• Understanding of traditional and alternative construction methods (preferred but not essential).

• High level of IT literacy.

• Strong numeracy, literacy, and analytical skills.
