Joe is registered blind; however, that does not hold him back. He loves the outdoors and enjoys walking over rough terrain, cycling, kayaking, and swimming, which is important for his emotional and physical wellbeing. Joe lives in his own home in Plymouth with a very well-established team, providing full support around his daily lifestyle and managing his home and health.
Joe’s family is close by and very important to him; it is essential you work to maintain and support these relationships. Joe is looking for someone who can use initiative, think on their feet, be enthusiastic, and motivated to enable Joe's busy active lifestyle. As a support worker, you will need to be able to work alone and as part of a team, using initiative to ensure Joe's immediate needs are met. In addition to great days, you may also face some more challenging days as Joe struggles with his communication, which may sometimes be displayed with physical behavior that could challenge.
You must be open to learning, ongoing training, and personal development. Does the job role include personal care?: Yes
Day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, 15-20 hours per week.
Must hold a full UK driving licence; in addition, must enjoy and participate in outdoor pursuits and be able to swim.
