Job description

Our Water company client is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Falmer based team working across a range of Water/Wastewater projects.


This role involves managing and delivering project designs, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and providing expertise in design and technical solutions. You will lead or work within a team to deliver projects efficiently, accurately, and in line with the organisation's standards.


Responsibilities

  1. Follow established procedures to ensure safety, sustainability, and compliance are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Take responsibility for your own health and safety, conducting risk assessments and wearing PPE as required.
  3. Provide technical expertise on water and/or wastewater projects as part of a collaborative project team.
  4. Assist the Principal Engineer in managing and coordinating various project activities.
  5. Review and verify datasheets, calculations, and drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  6. Prepare comprehensive reports for project documentation and stakeholder communication.
  7. Perform quality assurance checks to ensure project deliverables meet high standards.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve complex design issues, providing innovative solutions.
  9. Proactively pursue professional development, with guidance from line managers, to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  10. Research and apply industry best practices to support innovative standardisation efforts, including the promotion of digital design concepts.

Skills/Experience/Qualifications

  1. MEng/BEng/BSc or HNC in Civil Engineering, Environmental, or a numerate science-related subject.
  2. Experience in water/wastewater engineering or asset management within the UK Water Industry.
  3. Progressing towards or already a member of a relevant professional institution.

Benefits

  1. Full-time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.
  2. Hybrid working will be permitted - candidate must be commutable to Falmer 3 days a week ideally.
  3. Salary circa £53k depending on experience.
