We are looking for an experienced Campaign Manager to join our busy team. You will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Head of Content and Engagement Marketing to create and implement the strategic vision for your portfolio of journals.

Role Summary

The Campaign Manager will be accountable for achieving annual marketing objectives and KPIs for their journal portfolio through the implementation of multi-channel marketing campaigns (across email, social, PPC, webinars, events etc.) Marketing strategies and activities will support the primary business goal of winning and retaining customers: primarily authors, reviewers, readers and conference organisers. Integral to this is the need to maximise content growth and visibility through the engagement of researchers with IOPP’s products and services.

Key job accountabilities:

  • Assumes ownership and responsibility in establishing the marketing strategy and the development of a tactical plan to support the publishing strategy for their portfolio and products.
  • Establishes SMART objectives and conducts regular analysis to track and monitor progress, recommending and implementing any remedial action as necessary.
  • Sets and manages journal budgets, including forecast and actual spend analysis.
  • Prioritises and executes marketing campaigns across a variety of channels to raise awareness, support usage, content acquisition and engagement across all audiences.
  • Collaborates with publishing colleagues to gain a comprehensive understanding of product positioning, and approaches conversations and meetings with a solutions-oriented mindset, providing justification for strategies and exploring innovative methods and channels where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with adjacent marketing departments to ensure effective execution and delivery of campaigns.
  • Makes data driven decisions when planning campaigns and activities to optimise performance.
  • Monitors and reports on campaign performance, and creation of quarterly/annual reports as required.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Ideally holds a professional qualification in marketing or equivalent work experience in marketing, along with a passion for continuously developing and demonstrating marketing skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with colleagues, stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience in creating and implementing marketing strategies and tactical plans, and able to demonstrate an understanding of marketing concepts.
  • Experience preparing and managing a budget, and the ability to measure performance against goals, evaluate results and seek improvements.
  • Experience in reporting on marketing performance to stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • An understanding of Open Access and wider STM publishing and research landscape.
  • Good time management skills, managing multiple marketing campaigns at any one time.
  • Is proactive in seeking new ways to build on or change the current processes, workflows or practices in the marketing department.
  • Can write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles, to get messages across that have the desired effect on different audiences.
