Waggel is on a mission to revolutionise pet insurance - making it simple, personalised, and rewarding for pet owners. We’re building a lifestyle brand that resonates with a new generation of pet parents. As we grow, we’re looking for a hands-on freelance PR consultant with a strong journalist network in the UK to help us kickstart, structure, and execute a strong PR strategy and tell our story in a way that gets people talking.

What You’ll Do

• Kickstart and execute Waggel’s PR strategy, ensuring consistent media coverage that builds brand awareness.
• Leverage your network of journalists to secure press opportunities across consumer, lifestyle, and industry publications in the UK.
• Work closely with the Marketing Manager (you’ll have plenty of support on story angles and messaging).
• Identify and develop compelling PR stories that align with Waggel’s positioning, ensuring we stand out in a competitive market.
• Handle media outreach, press releases, and pitch development.
• Proactively monitor trends in the pet industry, lifestyle media, and insurance space to spot newsworthy angles.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of PR experience, ideally within consumer brands, lifestyle, or pet/insurance sectors.
• A strong personal network of journalists across lifestyle, consumer, and business media.
• Experience securing coverage in tier-one media as well as niche publications.
• Ability to track and measure PR success in a meaningful way.
• A “get things done” mentality - comfortable with fast execution and hands-on work.
• Strong storytelling and copywriting skills, with an understanding of what makes a compelling pitch.
