Job description

Deputy Nursery Manager who has great leadership and team management skills is required for a well-established nursery school based in New Cross, South East London.

SALARY: £34,000 - £37,000 per annum (depending on experience)

LOCATION: New Cross, South East London (SE14)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40 Hours per Week, 5 Days per Week

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Deputy Nursery Manager who has great leadership and team management skills.

Working as the Deputy Nursery Manager you will work alongside the management team to provide a high level of professional leadership and management to all staff including Early Years Practitioners / Early Years Educators and to ensure that all children receive the highest possible standards of care and education.

As the Deputy Nursery Manager you will support the nursery school to comply with all regulatory requirements, provide a high standard of care and education, support playroom staff in their roles and maintain positive working relationships with staff, parents and carers.

DUTIES

  1. Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff
  2. Promote a high standard of quality within the nursery, including practice, environment and resources to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  3. Ensure appropriate planning and assessment is in place and is accurately maintained by all staff
  4. Support the development of good practice in relation to special educational needs and inclusion
  5. Provide leadership and support to all staff to enable them to establish and maintain professional positive working relationships with both colleagues, parents and carers
  6. Deploy staff effectively to ensure the required standards are maintained
  7. Ensure the effective implementation of the company’s keyperson system throughout the nursery
  8. Ensure that all children are kept safe and that staff are confident to follow safeguarding procedures
  9. Implement and support others in delivering the EYFS in line with current practice and guidelines
  10. Support the implementation of a child centred curriculum
  11. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with relevant outside agencies
  12. Create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the nursery
  13. Proactively promote and represent the nursery to current and potential parents / customers including in the wider community
  14. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures and be responsible for ensuring all staff receive health and safety training
  15. Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures
  16. Be responsible for ensuring the nursery remains compliant in respect of suitably trained and vetted staff with relevant qualifications
  17. Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise all staff to deliver high quality childcare practice
  18. Identify, address and support individual training needs and self-development such as supervisions and appraisals
  19. Manage staff and running costs
  20. Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations
  21. Be responsible for all administrative duties associated with the nursery, including maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment and keeping personnel files

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must have held a Deputy Nursery Management or similar senior position before
  2. Minimum full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
  3. Designated Safeguarding Lead
  4. Safer Recruitment training
  5. Paediatric First Aid
  6. Food and Hygiene Level 2
  7. Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records
  8. Ability to write clear objective observations
  9. Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  10. Excellent knowledge of the current Early Years Inspection Framework and Welfare Requirements
