What you'll do:

We’re seeking a hands-on Jewellery Buyer.

You will have experience within the following:

Trend Analysis and Product Selection:

  • Immerse yourself in market research to be ahead on jewellery trends and consumer preferences aligned to our brand vision.
  • Analyse competitor products, pricing, and promotions to determine the best buying strategy for Jewells.
  • Be familiar and open to global trends and insights, use all available data to make informed decisions.
  • Develop the product strategy for your category, presenting a curated assortment that aligns with the brand vision and ambition across stores and online platforms.

Supplier Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with jewellery suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers in a tough but fair manner to optimise profit margin.
  • Fully understand supplier cost structure and logistics costs and identify value added opportunities as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, price, and reliability.
  • Deliver against the critical path, ensure timely delivery of stock and ensure consistent quality. Monitor sell-through and deliveries of all vendors and take decisive action to deal with poor performance.
  • Deliver intake margin targets and proactively seek out new opportunities to grow profit.

OTB Control:

  • Work with the Merchandising team to plan the seasonal OTB and ensure it is monitored closely in season and on budget.
  • Establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the brand vision and customer profile. Work with the Merchandising team on ranging and ranking to make recommendations for changes and improvements to maximise sales and profit potential.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure the quality and authenticity of jewellery products before purchasing, by inspecting the craftsmanship and using certification to validate the materials, plating etc.
  • Handle returns or quality issues, working with suppliers on root cause analysis and cost recovery.

Pricing Strategy:

  • Build an inclusive and accessible price architecture which maximises conversion and builds trust with our customers.
  • Set competitive pricing based on market trends, production costs, and pricing strategies.

Collaboration:

  • Support the marketing team with samples and styling for shoots.
  • Work closely with visual merchandising teams to present innovative and engaging jewellery displays.

Team Management:

  • Monitor and review performance of direct reports, identify individuals who are ready for promotion or require performance improvement plans.
  • Provide on the job coaching to ensure that direct reports can meet and exceed the requirements of the role. Identify and facilitate opportunities for additional training for the team.
  • Complete and present performance appraisals based on defined goals and objectives for team members in a timely manner.

Sales Performance:

  • Adjust purchasing decisions quickly based on sales data and feedback.
  • Support training of stores staff in all aspects of merchandise including product knowledge and visual presentation in person with supporting documents.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of Buying experience in luxury, jewellery or fashion. Demonstrable a thorough working knowledge of buying process.
  • In depth knowledge of jewellery materials, gemstones, and design trends.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of commercial awareness. Analytical skills to assess market trends and sales data.
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail with a keen eye for quality and design.
  • Deliver results with speed, getting the right things done quickly.
  • Inspire creativity, champion change, and keep the customer at the centre of everything you do.
  • Build diverse teams, inspire greatness by creating a culture of recognition, by coaching and empowering your team.
  • Passionate and positive, a strong team player with outstanding communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
