We are currently looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our team and help us test and deliver quality software solutions that are fit for use and purpose. This role is hybrid but could be based in the UK (Manchester or Whitley), Spain (Madrid), Denmark (Skanderborg), Sweden (Malmo) or Germany (Telgte).

What will you be doing in this role?
As a Senior Network Engineer you will deliver network and security enhancements and 3rd line support of Tunstall’s IT network infrastructure and security prevention and detection systems, working with Tunstall’s internal IT teams and external service providers.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable and resilient network architectures, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN systems, ensuring alignment with business objectives and future growth.
- Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
- Oversee the monitoring and management of network performance, ensuring optimal uptime and identifying areas for improvement.
- Lead the resolution of complex network issues, including root cause analysis, and provide expertise in mitigating recurring problems.
- Conduct regular audits of network configurations to maintain consistency and compliance.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain robust protections, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control protocols.
- Conduct periodic vulnerability assessments, applying patches and updates to mitigate risks while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Proactively identify potential threats and design strategies to minimize security risks.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior network engineers and IT staff, fostering knowledge growth within the team.
- Act as the primary liaison between IT teams, vendors, and external partners for network-related projects and escalations.
- Lead cross-functional projects, ensuring timely delivery of network infrastructure initiatives.
- Implement automation tools and scripts (e.g., Ansible, Python) to streamline repetitive tasks, optimize network configurations, and improve response times.
- Continuously analyze and enhance network performance, focusing on bandwidth utilization, latency reduction, and traffic optimization.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides.
Key skills and experience:
Essential
- Proven experience in networking roles.
- Design Enterprise graded networks.
- Hands-on expertise in configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
- Proficiency in SD-WAN technologies, VLANs, VPNs, and network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.).
- Proficient with network protocols and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools.
- Understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, protocols and experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering.
- Working knowledge of security devices, tools and service providers.
- Experience in 3rd line, 24/7 support of network technologies.
- Experience working with Tier1 network providers.
- Experience defining and implementing network solutions for internal and external customers.
Desirable
- Familiar with ITIL processes for IT service management.
- Working knowledge of modern telephony/VOIP technologies.
- Experience in Azure and AWS including firewall configuration.
- Familiarity with public cloud connectivity issues.
- Experience with local or national government connectivity standards.
- Cisco CCDE, CCNP.
