Menzies Distribution are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join our team in Chester. The role is responsible for maximising the performance of our InPost operations and requires a high-performing individual to provide leadership, motivation, and training and development of the workforce. This role would suit a candidate coming from a similar parcel sortation operation management background; this is an ESSENTIAL requirement for this role.
As Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day efficient and effective operations and management of our parcel sortation Hub. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in overseeing the activities of the warehouse, managing the shift team, and running a mechanical sortation.

Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 P/A
Shift: 4 on 4 off Days
Operations Manager Duties:
- Accountable for the daily management and supervision of the whole despatch operation.
- Manage, support, and develop the operational team.
- Ensure the performance of the operation exceeds customer expectations in line with recognised contract KPI's.
- Liaise, support, and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ensure operational compliance including Health & Safety.
- Assist the Regional Manager and General Manager in ensuring all operational performance standards are met.
- Manage the team, undertaking regular reviews, plan, and arrange for the training and development of operational staff.
- Ensure and monitor effective use of driver and vehicle resources.
- Establish and develop working relationships with the customer.
- Compile and analyse operational and financial performance data to identify service efficiencies and improvements around MPG, Tachos, fuel, and damage.
- Coordinate site housekeeping/maintenance to ensure Health & Safety requirements are upheld.
- Some UK travelling may be required.
Operations Manager Requirements:
- MUST have extensive experience in the management of the mechanical parcel sortation and processes operation.
- Experience with methods of continuous improvement and delivering process improvements.
- Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph, and WTD legislation.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Ability to manage, motivate, and develop people, leading by example.
- Budget management.
- KPI development and measurement.
- Ability to plan and organise effectively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to use and understand computerised systems including TMS and WMS systems.
- High level of accuracy and numeracy, keen eye for detail.
