Seller Pricing Experience and Services team is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager (SDM) who is excited to lead a team of highly talented engineers building pricing products for Amazon’s Selling Partners worldwide. We’re looking for a technical leader who can own a set of core services, drive Operational Excellence for those services, and be a focal point for project management.

Our team’s mission is to help Sellers across the world grow their business by offering Customers the best prices on the internet for their entire selection. The core of our strategy is to make it easy for Sellers to match or beat competitor prices. We build products and systems to:

1. Provide Sellers relevant and actionable data, notifications, and recommendations to optimize pricing decisions.
2. Build tools to facilitate competitive price automation at scale.
3. Build and operate secured, optimized, and scalable systems that empower Selling Partners to achieve pricing objectives.

We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager who can deliver world-class solutions. Successful candidates for this position need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to translate business requirements to engineering requirements, the ability to adapt quickly to new environments, and use creativity to solve difficult problems in a world-class engineering team.

Key job responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall product development life cycle.
• Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Management of team resources, hiring, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a world-class engineering team.
• Work closely with the engineers in a design-first methodology to architect and develop the best technical design and approach that embodies Operational Excellence.
• Partner with software development and design teams to deliver on product and services roadmap.
• Lead automation efforts for a team advancing a service ownership culture.
• Accountable for identifying commonalities across reported customer incidents and drive root cause efforts to understand and resolve these problems.

As a Software Development Manager, you will be part of the larger technical leadership community at Amazon. This community forms the backbone of the company, plays a critical role in broad business planning, working closely with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, influences our long-term technical and business strategy, helps us hire a talented team of engineers, and ultimately enables us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
