Job Title: EC&I Design Engineer
Working Hours: 40 hours per week – flexible hours.
Location (including any site visits): This role is predominantly based in the TTL Head office, with occasional site visits required and up to 2 days per week WFH.
Position reports to: EC&I and Software Design Lead
This job Requires:

Qualification & Experience:
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience – ideally degree qualified or time-served apprenticeship.
- Must have demonstrable experience working on designs for hazardous areas installations and CompEX EX01-EX04 and/or EX12 modules are advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience on gas analytical and metering systems is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Should have experience and knowledge of electrical installations in accordance with BS7671 (18th Edition).
Primary Duties:
- Design packs: Develop clear and concise drawing and document packs and review existing packs with a keen eye for detail. Be able to assist in compilation of functional design specifications, FAT and SAT documents for analytical and metering systems.
- Calculations: carry out cable calculations, I.S Loop Calculations (DSDs), AC and DC load schedules, lighting calculations and thermal capacity calculations, and ensure their accuracy.
- Advise: Use your garnered knowledge to train and advise the Junior EC&I design engineers on engineering principles and guidelines. Attend client meetings and be comfortable representing the company when face to face with clients.
- Bridge the gap: Work closely with the site-based engineers and commissioning engineers to continuously improve our standards and help the design team to view their projects from multiple perspectives, including maintenance, shipping, and decommissioning.
Secondary Duties:
- Process improvement: build a clear image of the existing processes and offer improvements and suggestions.
- Commissioning: Aid the commissioning team during pre-FAT and FAT with any EC&I related issues.
