Job description

Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Advisor – Edinburgh or Glasgow

Salary Up to £40,000 depending on experience and qualifications

The Vacancy

Do you want to work for a worldwide, market leading Company?

We have an exciting opportunity for you at RSK to join our existing Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Department. We are looking for a full time (40 hours per week) SHEQ Advisor based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.

You will be part of our one of our SHEQ Teams reporting to a Central SHEQ Manager giving health and safety advice, guidance, and help, as well as practical support in making sure our projects meet the necessary environmental criteria, and leave a positive legacy on the communities we work in.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting the SHEQ team in providing SHEQ compliance, advice, guidance with applicable legislation and industry best practice.
  2. Preparation and review of risk assessments, safe systems of work and other supporting documentation.
  3. Carrying out training, and toolbox talks.
  4. Delivery of internal audits, on-site inspections, and reporting on SHEQ performance for business operations, office and field based.
  5. Support the investigation of incidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team.
  6. Subcontractor review, audit, and inspections.
  7. Assist with the implementation of divisional and Group SHEQ initiatives.

Person Specification:

  1. Experience in a health and safety position.
  2. Civils or construction experience an advantage but not essential.
  3. A NEBOSH General Certificate, ideally TechIOSH status, and experience with ISO standards.
  4. Good technical knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  5. A confident and experienced trainer an advantage but not essential.
  6. ISO internal auditor qualification an advantage but is not essential.
  7. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  9. Travel (UK, and occasionally internationally) for up to 50% of workload.
  10. Must hold a full UK driving licence.

Salary & benefits:

  1. £25,500 - £40,000, subject to experience and qualifications.
