Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Neurosurgeon to join the Neuro-oncology Team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, a site of UCLH, a major London teaching hospital, which is also part of the academic health science partnership UCL Partners. Applications from both senior trainees and established consultants are welcome.
Main duties of the job
The post holder must be committed to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, advancement of knowledge through research, and excellence in education/training.
The post holder will be expected to have completed a formal Fellowship in Neuro-oncology at a recognised institution or additional equivalent experience in this field. A PhD in a related field is desirable.
The post holder will be a key member of the Neurosurgical Department and will be required to participate in audits within the department, including regular reviews of mortality and morbidity. You will be required to work with the current neurosurgeons as a team, which will include covering operating sessions to ensure the theatre lists are used every week throughout the year.
Candidates should have the ability to run and manage complex neurosurgical clinics and be able to supervise trainees. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in managing a variety of neurosurgical conditions and procedures.
Candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration; and either be already on or eligible to be on the Specialist Register and have completed a formal fellowship in neurosurgery at a recognised institution.
