Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

There are 3x posts and hours available in two different locations.

Leverndale Hospital:

19.8 hours per week (2 posts)

Pollok Health Centre:

12.5 per week

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

The predominant purpose of the Support Service Assistant role is to provide a quality domestic and catering service ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Please note within the Health centres it is a core cleaning service only.
You will be following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice.
There is the requirement to rotate around our clinical areas and all departments, present an efficient, high-quality service to patients and staff, follow a specific schedule of work relating to defined areas. There is the requirement for you to have a flexible approach to daily routine. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers' recommended instructions. You will use mechanical cleaning equipment. You should inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment. You will wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign-off sheets for areas of work. All necessary training will be offered to ensure your working environment is safe, and you are confident within your role.
