Job description

CNC Miller/Setter/Operator and Programmer

Role Summary

SPM is looking to recruit a flexible shift worker to set-up, operate, and program edit our Milling Machines. Due to the capability of the machines and Sheffield Precision Medical’s varied product range, it is advantageous that you have experience in other CNC to enhance and become part of our highly skilled and flexible team.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Competent to operate CNC 3, 4 & 5 Axis milling machines; operate controls, adjusting wear offsets, manual data input.
  2. Set-up machines accurately to ensure repeatability.
  3. Read programs, edit existing programs, and have the capability of writing basic programs alone.
  4. Ability to read detailed engineering drawings.
  5. Comprehensive use of measuring equipment (Verniers, Micrometers, Gauges, Shadow graphs, etc.).
  6. Good understanding of tooling & fixturing.
  7. Ability to work unsupervised in line with customer deadlines and problem solving.
  8. Consistently maintain high levels of quality.
  9. Demonstrate and be rewarded for high standards in a modern, clean environment using well-maintained machines.
  10. Develop skills on a supportive shop floor committed to continuous improvement.
  11. Work within a team while being accountable for your own quality and output.
  12. Follow good manufacturing practice and health & safety protocols.
  13. Promote the maximization of production output and the common goal of full section machine utilization.
  14. Assist colleagues and contribute to the company goal of being the best in the business.

General Guidelines

  1. Have a helpful attitude towards all personnel, fostering good working relationships.
  2. Give specific attention to detail to those on his/her section and other sections as required by management.
  3. Good timekeeping.
  4. Maintain good working practices.
  5. Uphold company policies including, but not exhaustive of, eating and drinking policy, mobile phones, and IT equipment policies.
  6. Implement Health and Safety policy relevant to his/her section.
  7. Monitor equipment within section, identify maintenance requirements, and notify management.
  8. Flexibility is key in this new role. We are looking for someone to cover possible afternoon and night shift patterns. Hours to be discussed further at interview.
  9. This role will cover our second shift pattern (1pm-11pm Mon-Thurs) alternating with the first shift pattern (6am-2pm Mon-Friday).
