What you’ll be responsible for
- Ensuring the correct Health & Safety, procurement and administration procedures are followed on every job, including up to date information required for Welsh Water waste key performance indicators.
- Maintaining, repairing and installing electrical equipment on various assets types and locations, often in challenging conditions.
- Producing high quality work, working with mechanical, instrumentation technicians and operations staff.
- Able to work well and safely as part of a team or as an individual.
- Swiftly and comprehensively fault-find, rectifying problems on electrical equipment including sludge screening, sludge imports, centrifuges, odour control, CambiTM process, water treatment, steam boilers, CHP plant, digestion process, return liquors, thermally hydrolysed sludge dewatering and sludge exports.
- Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems generally.
- Being part of a standby rota and planned work time with the post covering Five Fords, Wrexham sites, and may be called upon to work at other sites due to operational needs.
- Maintaining, repairing and installing electrical and instrumentation to ensure performance of all assets.
- Actively taking part in Risk Assessment, COSHH assessment and all related Health and Safety issues.
- Identifying problematic plant and the subsequent faults and to take part in finding efficient solutions to return equipment to working order.
- Identifying requirement of spares and materials using preferred suppliers.
- Completing of all job cards and timesheets to allow for monitoring of workload, performance etc.
- Providing knowledge, information and provide on-site support for Welsh Water capital teams, operational teams and partners.
- Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Internal
- Strong working relationships within the Wastewater operational teams
- Advice and support from Operations, Process Science, ICA/ATC and fellow Craft personnel
- Liaison with local Wastewater Networks Team
External
- Liaison and co-ordination of suppliers and contractors
- Liaison with NRW/EA Regulators and other stakeholders
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Fully qualified electrician
- Compliance with 17th Edition IEE regulations
- Full, UK Driving Licence
- An excellent understanding of planning and scheduling of work processes
- The ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the team is required for this role
- Ability to take responsibility, make decisions and use initiative, working proactively
- Solution focused approach to resolving problems
- Critical thinking to be able to analyse information and provide a solution to situations effectively
- Working as part of a team and good communication and ability to influence others
The successful candidate will participate on call (1 week out of every 4 weeks), and also participate in 260 hours planned working time.
