Job description

Performing Arts Teacher / Performing Arts ECT

A holistic school nestled in the heart of West London is on the hunt for an enthusiastic Music Teacher or ECT to join their team on a school-based, long-term contract starting in September 2025.

The faculty sits within a large, brand new performing arts department that has seen a new recording studio fitted as well as an Apple Technology Suite designed bespoke for recording and producing.

Performing Arts at this school has a large, high-achieving uptake up to KS5, with your role comprising of only GCSE Music and A-Level, without any KS3. Despite its large uptake, the headteacher has ensured class sizes remain smaller across all subjects, allocating 2 hours of additional PPA for classes, which is 10% over the average for the school.

The school values promoting a nurturing and supportive education, encouraging students to pursue their own passions instead of solely traditional academia. They also pride themselves on playing to their staff's strengths, offering appropriate TLRs to match this.

This school is truly one of a kind; looking to expand their team, this opportunity will be snapped up fast! Read on to find out more…

More about the school:

  • The headteacher encourages a teaching and learning approach to education, as opposed to a data and performance heavy approach.

  • Holistic education, having completed their own research, the school believes in an education system that develops children wholly, including their own passions and wellbeing.
  • Offering bespoke mentorship to ECTs, the school aims to develop their ECTs into natural, confident leaders, with most MLT members having originally trained with the school.

More about the role:

  • Planning and teaching Music in KS4 and KS5.
  • ECTs encouraged.
  • TLRs available for experienced teachers.
  • Full Time - Permanent - (No Agency Work).
  • MPS1 - UPS3 + TLR.
  • Located in Hillingdon.

Person Specification:

  • Music Related degree at 1st Class or 2:1 Level - Essential.
  • Experience in the music industry - desirable (but none required).
  • Enthusiastic, passionate, and driven person.
  • Strong communication skills.

The school recently had their Ofsted inspection (2023), which greatly completed the efforts the SLT have made to make teachers' lives easier - which in turn has seen an increase in performance and student happiness across the school.
