Job description

We are currently working with a primary school in Wythenshawe, Manchester, who are seeking a One-to-One Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil displaying challenging behaviour. The school feels that the pupil would benefit from a male teaching assistant with a keen interest in sport - as this is one of the pupil's main passions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with additional needs, focusing on behavioural and emotional support.

  • Develop a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil, helping them feel supported and motivated to engage with learning.

  • Encourage the pupil's interest in sport, using this as a tool to support learning and manage behaviour.

  • Work alongside the class teacher and other staff to implement tailored strategies for behaviour management and learning support.

  • Support the pupil's academic progress while promoting social and emotional development.


Ideal Candidate:
  • A male teaching assistant with a passion for sport and an ability to use this interest to engage the pupil.

  • Experience working with children who display challenging behaviour, ideally within a primary school setting.

  • A patient, flexible, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs.

  • Strong communication skills, able to work effectively with teaching staff and the pupil's family.

  • An understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to apply them in an educational setting.
