Job description

This firm has several offices across the Devon area, offering an extensive legal service to businesses and individuals both locally and nationally.

On our client’s behalf, we are seeking an experienced Housing Litigation Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their well-respected and fast-paced housing management team.

The Role:

The team deals with everything to do with managing the client’s housing stock and their tenants’ conduct. Principally this involves dealing with disrepair claims, anti-social behaviour injunctions, breach of tenancy injunctions, possession claims, property and land disputes including adverse possession and boundary disputes, and leasehold disputes.

Members of the team regularly appear before County Courts and the Property Tribunal.

There is an expectation that you will conduct your own advocacy (at least through directions and case management hearings) as well as provide ad hoc advice to clients.

Additionally, there will be direct client contact outside of a case setting through the delivery of targeted training to clients, information to clients through newsletters, and managing client relationships.

Skills and Experience Required:

You will have litigation experience and a practical, proactive approach. In addition, you will need to be an effective communicator ensuring that all clients have the information they need. Supervising junior members of the team will form part of this role.

Initially, you will be office-based in Exeter to help you familiarize yourself with the team, the work, and access the support available to you. Hybrid working is available although the role will require the successful candidate to work a minimum of 2 days per week in the office alongside other commitments the role will require such as Court attendance.

In return, you will be offered a competitive salary and benefits package, hybrid working, and the opportunity for progression.
