Job description

Job overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a physiotherapist with occupational health experience to join a friendly and supportive team in the Occupational Health department at Salisbury Foundation Trust. You will be invaluable in helping to improve the health and wellbeing of our NHS work staff and help the Trust with its commitment to fulfilling the NHS People Plan and People Promise.

Occupational Health Physiotherapists utilise their skills to accelerate workers' recovery from, or self-management of, their musculoskeletal conditions and thereby assist their ability to undertake their jobs efficiently and effectively. You will also play a key role in helping to prevent or reduce sickness absence from musculoskeletal disorders by providing early and easy access to high standard, highly specialist Physiotherapy assessment and phased return to work programs.

Provide expert advice to and work closely with General Practitioners, Occupational Health Physicians, Occupational Health Nurses, and Line Managers regarding individuals' fitness to work/return to work and provide workplace ergonomic assessments to prevent/reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury to staff and patients.

To find out more about the role, informal chats or informal departmental visits are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

  1. To be responsible for the operational management and clinical leadership of the Occupational Health (OH) physiotherapy service in conjunction with the Head of Occupational Health.
  2. To use expert physiotherapy knowledge and advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the physiotherapy team and other healthcare staff and to manage their own caseload of patients with highly complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner.
  3. To ensure a high quality, effective OH staff physiotherapy service.
  4. To be a member of the Physiotherapy Department Management team, contributing to planning and policy development in the Inter-professional team and department.
  5. To deputise for the Inter-professional Lead as required.
