My client is seeking a Junior/Mid-Level Associate to join their Finance & Financial Regulation team in London. This role will involve working on a diverse range of finance transactions, including those related to renewable energy financing and sports finance.

As part of a small team, the successful candidate will take on significant responsibility and have direct client interaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, entrepreneurial, and ambitious lawyer looking to grow in a dynamic environment.

The Team:
The Finance & Financial Regulation team in London consists of specialist lawyers with expertise in acquisition finance, financial regulation (particularly electronic payments), Islamic finance, project finance, real estate finance, restructuring and insolvency, sports finance, and venture debt finance.

Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will advise financial institutions (banks, development banks, funds, and alternative lenders) and borrowers on a wide range of lending matters, including bilateral bank lending, sports finance (focused on football transfer receivables and media rights), acquisition finance, real estate finance, project finance (with an emphasis on renewable energy), cross-border financings, and venture debt.

About You:
My client is looking for a banking lawyer who demonstrates strong technical skills and the ability to apply those skills practically. Candidates should have solid post-qualification experience gained in a reputable banking or finance practice.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong academic achievements
  • Experience handling transactions in a similar environment and at an appropriate level
  • A desire to work within a truly international firm

In addition, my client expects the successful associate to demonstrate:

  • Flexibility in supporting a variety of debt transactions
  • The ability to manage aspects of complex transactions and client relationships
  • Expertise in key areas of law and the ability to provide clear, practical advice
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with colleagues from different disciplines and jurisdictions
  • Delegation and supervisory abilities when necessary
  • A proactive interest in business development and building client relationships
  • A commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team

This role will require some additional duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the department, as well as the possibility of working outside regular office hours (9:30 am – 5:30 pm).
