our client is one of the leading dealers of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap materials, and for our client we are looking for an experienced highly skilled LME Trader to join our commodities trading team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trading base metals on the London Metal Exchange (LME), with a strong understanding of market trends, hedging strategies, and risk management. This role requires analytical skills, the ability to execute trades efficiently, and a deep knowledge of LME contracts and pricing mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and manage proprietary and client trades in LME-traded metals (e.g., copper, Aluminium, nickel, zinc, lead, tin).
  • Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, economic indicators, and supply-demand fundamentals affecting base metals.
  • Maintain relationships with brokers, counterparties, and clients to facilitate smooth trade execution.
  • Ensure compliance with LME regulations, internal risk policies, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Utilize trading platforms, pricing models, and data analysis tools to optimize trade execution.
  • Manage hedging activities for physical metal exposures and structured products.
  • Work closely with risk management, compliance, and operations teams to ensure seamless trade settlement and reporting.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying new trading opportunities and market trends.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in LME metals trading within a commodities trading firm, hedge fund, or financial institution.
  • In-depth knowledge of LME contracts, spreads, and arbitrage opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of market fundamentals, macroeconomic drivers, and hedging techniques.
  • Proficiency in trading platforms and financial analytics tools (e.g., Reuters, Bloomberg, Excel/VBA, Python preferred).
  • Excellent risk management skills with a disciplined approach to trading.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for client interactions and broker relations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with structured products and derivatives in metals trading.
  • Knowledge of physical metal supply chains and logistics.
  • CFA, FRM, or relevant financial certifications.
  • Opportunity to work in a dynamic, global trading environment.
