You will be responsible for the servicing, repair, and diagnostics of all vehicles in the workshop, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standard first time. You will be responsible for finding and explaining a vehicle's issues, as well as planning maintenance and repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out vehicle inspections and logging of faults requiring to be rectified
Carry out basic repairs, brake lining replacement, and routine servicing
Carry out vehicle inspections and advise on faults requiring to be rectified
Carry out vehicle inspections to a high standard including all mechanical repairs
Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults
Usage of wiring diagrams and diagnostic instruments
Basic coding and programming operations
Conduct complex diagnostic work, adhering to the best repair methods
Offer guidance and development support for colleagues on diagnosis and best repair methods
Maintain clear and accurate record of work carried out
Ensure the safe working environment for employees by complying with statutory legislation and the Government’s Health and Safety policy. Report immediately any non-conformance to the appropriate Senior Manager
Ensure effective job card completion including comprehensive write-ups of ‘Fault’, ‘Diagnosis’ and ‘Repair’ findings, including accurate ‘on’ and ‘off’ clockings for all job card types
Diagnosis and rectification of engine and component faults
Diagnosis of chassis system faults
Diagnosis and rectification of vehicle transmission and driveline system faults
Inspecting vehicles
Use of correct tools for all jobs, including Special Service Tools (SST)
Diagnosis and rectification of engine, transmission, and chassis electrical faults
Routine vehicle maintenance
Removing and replacing engine units and components
Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical auxiliary units and components
Enhancing vehicle electrical system features
Replacing chassis units and components
Basic testing of vehicle charging systems
Basic removal and replacement of clutches, exhaust systems, batteries, suspension dampers, and braking system components
Ensure technical activities comply with manufacturer recommendations
