Description:

The main function of this role is to provide support for the news production, focusing on the reporting of news production spend across the ITV Newsroom.

A key output is a bi-weekly variance report for the business to manage their news production budgets and to make timely decisions on spend. Working closely and managing relationships with the business is key to this role, aiding cost capture and accurate reporting as well as a real understanding of all news production related costs. This is a responsive role, with fast changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily collation of news production cost estimates using a cost tracking system, working closely with the business, in particular the News desk, Production Manager & Travel desk, to ensure accurate cost capture.
  • Preparation of a regular news production report to be reviewed by the ITV News Finance Manager and then presented to the Operations & Finance Director & Heads of Business.
  • Assist with the preparation of news production budgets and forecasts.
  • Assisting with the news production month end, including analysis of actuals, posting accrual and prepayment journals in the accounting system.
  • Responsible for understanding the news production budget/forecast variances and contributing to the commentary in the management accounts.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsibility for checking and accurately coding invoices, facilitating invoice authorisation on a timely basis and dealing with any related queries.
  • Proactively engaged to improve cost capture and management.
  • Assist in the preparation and collection of data relating to the ITV News Albert Sustainable Production Certification.
  • Team player, offering ad hoc support to news production and the rest of the Newsroom Finance team as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Part-qualified CIMA / ACCA or equivalent with at least 2 years’ finance experience.
  • Interest in Media and News & Current Affairs.
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain good relationships with finance and operational staff.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, organised, good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
  • Confidence in working in a demanding & dynamic production newsroom.
