Job description

This seasonal job is based out of St. Margaret’s, NB. You will be performing a variety of tasks, including preventive maintenance and repairs to rolling-stock (tractors, loaders, forklifts, trucks, and implements). Your work includes: oil & filter changes; welding & fabrication; basic 12 & 24 volt electrical troubleshooting & installation; hydraulic hose repair; etc.


Applicants MUST:

  1. Work in a safe manner and display a good attitude
  2. Have reliable transportation and be capable of working overtime
  3. Work independently and as part of a team
  4. Maintain a neat, safe work environment
  5. Be capable of working in a noisy, dusty environment and in cold and hot conditions
  6. Be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
  7. Be a licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic OR be a recognized apprentice in the trade OR be able to demonstrate proficiency and experience in the trade
  8. Meet minimum performance standards, including pre-employment testing (theory and practical)
  9. Be capable of climbing safely in and out of heavy equipment
  10. Be able to speak, read and write in ENGLISH and be able to communicate well
  11. Not have restrictions limiting one’s ability to properly wear Personal Protective Equipment
  12. Provide a CPIC (Criminal Record) Check. Note: This is NOT a requirement for current Scotts Associates

Applicants MAY have to provide a driver’s abstract (driving record).


Normal shifts, during production season, are 7:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, with compulsory overtime coinciding with bog operations (weather-dependent), which could run into evenings or on weekends. Double-time pay on Sundays.


Bilingualism is an asset, but not a requirement.


This is a UNIONIZED position. Wages determined by Collective Agreement ($24.02 to $28.82, depending on ability, training, and experience).
