Band 7 Community Mental Health Team Manager --Bury
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to be part of Bury's Community Mental Health Management Team. Mental health services are undergoing transformation, and this is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop the team by providing strong leadership to ensure safe and high quality service provision.
The service has invested in a range of mental health professionals to support the transformation and the wider offer to patients in the Bury locality. Pennine Care Foundation Trust is working with partner agencies to develop a new model of integration for CMHT and this appointment will be pivotal in delivering and supporting this new way of working.
Main duties of the job
- To provide strong leadership and vision to the team maintaining robust quality assurance to enable a safe high quality service to be delivered.
- To direct staff and provide expert advice and guidance on the management of service users care.
- To ensure that work allocated to staff is commensurate with their skill set and level of training.
- To manage and maintain systems for planning and allocation of work and for the setting and reviewing of targets, standards and priorities to the team.
- To ensure professional supervision systems are in place.
- To participate in the recruitment and appointment of staff within agreed HR procedures.
- To hold regular team meetings and develop the team.
- To respond to enquiries and complaints within the framework of the complaints procedure.
- To effectively manage the referrals to the team ensuring capacity is maintained and urgent cases are responded to in a timely manner.
- To demonstrate the ability to make sound managerial and clinical decisions in relation to mental health and acute physical illness for this client group.
- To chair MDT meetings, reviews, case conferences, planning meetings as required.
- To advise and make recommendations to the wider MDT with regard to the clinical management of service users.
Person specification
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current registration with Professional body.
- Substantial experience as a senior mental health practitioner at Band 6 or equivalent level in a CMHT or similar service with clients with severe/ enduring mental health issues.
- Experience of working with multi-agency child and adult safeguarding procedures.
- Experience of working to objectives, within a performance management framework.
- Experience of providing day-to-day clinical leadership and operational management.
- Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act.
- Ability to manage the performance of staff in a consistent and sensitive manner.
- Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs.
Desirable criteria
- Educated to degree level or working towards.
- Formal teaching qualification.
