We believe in the power of unique perspectives and want all voices in our organisation to be heard, respected and valued. A supportive workplace is one where employees feel they can be themselves and operate to their full potential. We are committed to removing barriers for everyone, with a focus on addressing those faced by underrepresented groups.

The role

FT Weekend is looking for a creative and experienced Fashion Editor to lead the FT Style team.

The Fashion Editor is responsible for commissioning and editing all Style stories across FT Weekend and FT.com, as well as the three annual Art of Fashion supplements and Christmas Gift Guide. You will also be responsible for the award-winning Fashion Matters newsletter and fashion news stories for the wider FT, as well as coverage of the annual women’s, men’s and couture fashion shows.

The role also requires working with our events division, FT Live, to produce our annual flagship luxury conference, the Business of Luxury Summit.

This position requires significant writing and editing experience, as well as a sharp and imaginative eye for the visual display of content on all platforms, including social media.

The successful candidate will also have the skills to motivate a small team. You will need lots of ideas and considerable experience of working in fashion media managing complex relationships with the major players.

The job requires around three months of travel a year and industry-related evening engagements. You will report to the editor of FT Weekend.

Key responsibilities

  1. Oversee the commissioning and editing of all Style stories across platforms
  2. Write fashion news stories in the wider coverage of the FT
  3. Author the weekly Fashion Matters newsletter
  4. Cover the seasonal shows, including men’s, women’s and couture
  5. Edit three annual Art of Fashion supplements
  6. Produce the Christmas Gift Guide
  7. Write more broadly for the FT on fashion-related themes, including industry trends and personalities
  8. Represent the FT at a senior level at high-profile events
  9. Demonstrate an interest in reporting across all digital platforms, including video, audio, email and social media
  10. Engage with our audience through social media and interactive content
  11. Additionally, the fashion editor hosts and organises the annual FT Business of Luxury Summit which takes place in a different location each year and is attended by approximately 400 paying delegates. This requires considerable planning ahead of the event and close liaison with FT Live, the FT’s conferences division, to ensure its success

What we are looking for

  1. You will be able to demonstrate these essential skills:
  2. Commissioning and editing fashion and luxury stories relevant to an FT audience
  3. A thorough understanding of the fashion business and financial terminology
  4. Capable of quick, reactive commissioning
  5. Comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines
  6. The ability to work assuredly and form productive relationships with colleagues across editorial
  7. The ability to prioritise effectively
  8. Excellent communication and organisation skills

Please submit your application by the end of the day, Monday 31st March 2025.
