Managers lead shifts every week, making sure customers get a fast, accurate, friendly experience every visit. Assistant managers have additional responsibilities which include managing assigned Systems (Training, Food Safety, and Inventory Management, for example), setting goals, delegating tasks to their teams, following up, and reporting results back to their GM and the entire restaurant management team.
The restaurant can be viewed as a system of departments- each manager in the restaurant is responsible for multiple aspects of each department. The Assistant Manager(s) and General Manager are ultimately responsible for and may train others and delegate responsibilities within each one of these departments.
The Guest Service Department includes making sure Crew and Managers deliver a great customer experience; that sales and product promotions are well executed; that all service staff are trained in service procedures; and that all service areas are laid out to provide the best customer service experience.
The Kitchen Department includes making sure the restaurant delivers great quality food to customers, and fast; that food is always safe; that food cost is controlled; and that all kitchen staff are trained in production procedures, including new items that are added to the menu.
The People Department includes making sure the restaurant hires qualified crew, trains them well, and schedules them to meet restaurant sales and profit goals. Our job is to ensure that Crew get off to a good start at the restaurant and that they are recognized and motivated throughout their time working for us.
