A Procurement Category Manager focusing on packaging for a global FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) brand, looking to ensure the efficient and cost-effective sourcing of packaging materials.


Client Details
Global FMCG Brand, with operations across the UK and Internationally, that require a Procurement Category Manager to manage their packaging spend, based in the North West of England.


Description
The role of Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for:

  1. Category Strategy Development: Establish and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for packaging materials to meet business goals and optimize cost.
  2. Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring continuous improvement in performance, cost, quality, and innovation.
  3. Cost Optimization: Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives through negotiations, competitive bidding, and process improvements.
  4. Risk Management: Proactively monitor and mitigate risks related to supply continuity and market fluctuation.
  5. Sustainability and Compliance: Lead initiatives to ensure packaging materials meet sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as sales, marketing, engineering, and finance to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
  7. Market Intelligence: Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and innovations in packaging materials to anticipate opportunities and challenges.

Profile
Ideally, the candidate will have the following background:

  1. Thorough understanding of procurement processes and frameworks.
  2. Previous experience in a Category Manager role or similar.
  3. Excellent working understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier development, and value chain mapping.
  4. Excellent working knowledge of allocated areas of spend.
  5. Understanding of contract principles and clauses and be able to construct and interpret agreements.
  6. SAP analytics and reporting.
  7. Degree level qualification, ideally business related would be desired but not essential.
  8. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  9. Associate or student of CIPS is desirable but not essential.
  10. Willingness to occasionally travel through UK and Overseas.
