Overview of the Role: We are seeking an Interior Lighting Engineer to join a dynamic team working on the next generation of user experience in automotive design. Reporting to the Functional Manager of Audio & Output Devices, you will lead the development and delivery of pre-series and series automotive interior lighting solutions. Collaborating with industry counterparts, you will help define lighting functions, systems, and architectures to deliver exceptional interior lighting features for upcoming vehicle models.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and develop innovative interior lighting systems to enhance the user experience.
Capture functional and software requirements, ensuring they are specified and documented effectively.
Create detailed specifications and manage test plans throughout the project lifecycle.
Capture and develop function owner requirements using a systems engineering approach.
Oversee software and hardware releases following internal product development processes.
Project manage the end-to-end delivery of interior lighting systems, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate product validation and integration, including rig and in-vehicle testing.
Maintain full ownership of the interior lighting development process.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in automotive lighting electronics and project delivery.
Strong expertise in the integration of interior lighting systems.
Solid understanding of automotive validation processes for interior lighting solutions.
Flexibility to travel overseas to support development activities as required.
Full driving licence is essential.
German language skills would be advantageous but not mandatory.
Practical & Technical Knowledge:
In-depth experience with in-vehicle communications and electrical architecture networks.
Familiarity with common vehicle architectures such as FLEX-RAY, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS, SPI, etc.
Proficient in using automotive software diagnostic tools like ODIS, IDEX, CANoe, CP tool, and IDEX.
Ability to prototype lighting functions using affordable off-the-shelf electronics such as Arduinos, Raspberry Pi, and custom PCs.
Qualifications:
Degree in Automotive Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
Demonstrable experience in delivering automotive interior lighting systems.
