We are excited to be recruiting a new Consultant post in public health in Sefton Council. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant to join our friendly, creative and forward-thinking team. You will be leading across childrens and womens public health interventions.
You will be joining our public health team as we continue to work across Sefton to deliver our ambitious health and wellbeing outcomes.
You will be an advocate for Children, young people and women in Sefton. This will include fulfilling the Child Health Commissioner role and influencing decision-making across the Council and Sefton Place to improve health outcomes for Children and Young people and womens health.
In Sefton, we can see that lifestyle choices are largely constrained by the social, economic, and environmental conditions in which we live. We aim to improve health through addressing these social determinants, and through using our influence with local communities and anchor institutions. As such you will provide leadership by representing Sefton Council on relevant regional meetings related to this posts workstreams, including the development of womens health hubs with the local ICB, the Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Beyond childrens workstream and the work of Champs Public Health Collaborative.

This is a new post for a CPH/CPHM. This is a permanent post employed by SeftonCouncil based at Magdalen House, Bootle, Merseyside L20 3NJ. The council operates an agile working policy,enabling working from home and off site.Staff are expected to be in the office 2-3 days each week to facilitateteamwork and support corporate function. The post-holder is a healthprofessional providing public health advice to and on behalf of the populationof Sefton. The post older will also be expected to lead on Cheshire andMerseyside public health issues, and to undertake responsibilities on behalf ofthe Champs public health network. Jobshare will be considered.

The postholder will contribute to achieving the priorities of Sefton Council and thevision for 2030, building on the wider vision for system change. ImagineSefton 2030 will engage the public, local businesses and potential investorsin creating a vision that will collectively promote shared prosperity,coordinated public investment, and a healthy environment and population. As asenior leader in the public health team and across the council the post holderwill help make the vision a reality, adding value and strengthening the healthand wellbeing outcomes.
The post-holder will have a lead role advocating for Children, youngpeople and women in Sefton. This will include fulfilling the Child HealthCommissioner role and influencing decision-making across the Council and SeftonPlace to improve health outcomes for Children and Young people and womenshealth. The post-holder will have a varied job plan which will be flexibleaccording to the needs of the service. The particular focus will be agreed andkept under review through the Job Planning process.
StrategicDuties and Responsibilities
Supportthe Director of Public Health (DPH) in their role reporting to and supportingthe work of relevant Council committees and governance bodies, including Health& Wellbeing Board, Children and Young Peoples Board, SEND ImprovementBoard, Safeguarding Forum, and Partnership Committees within the IntegratedCare System.
Provide strategic public health leadershipwith the childrens directorate, wider council, NHS and voluntary sectorpartners to effectively support the delivery of services and population level interventionsfor children, young people and women that improve physical health andwellbeing.
