ScottishPower General Services Estates are recruiting a Senior Estates Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team and contribute to the maintenance and development of our infrastructure. You will provide Building Surveying advice across UK ScottishPower Group assets including owned, leased, and third-party rights over land in order to maximize value and mitigate risk.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct detailed building surveys and inspections of company assets, including offices, depots, and other facilities.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on the condition of buildings, identifying defects and recommending necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Manage and oversee building maintenance projects to time, budget, and required standards.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure effective integration of building maintenance.
  • Provide expert advice on building regulations, health and safety standards, and sustainability practices.
  • Prepare schedules of work and evaluate submissions.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of new construction projects ensuring their compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Undertake surveys for schedule of conditions for new lease premises and continuously review dilapidations liabilities throughout the lifespan of leased properties.
  • Negotiate and mitigate any claims received following termination of lease or interim schedules being serviced.
  • Mentor and support junior surveyors by providing guidance and sharing expertise.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience working within a Surveying practice, providing timely and professional advice on building surveying issues across a complex property portfolio.
  • Years of experience in building surveying focusing on commercial or industrial properties with a good working knowledge of building regulations, health & safety standards, and sustainability practices.
  • Membership of RICS/MCIOB qualification.
  • A degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, with considerable project management experience.
  • A customer-centric approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A full driving licence is required for this role.
