Commercial Manager - Independent Power Producer

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to join one of the UK’s leading Independent Power Producers, where your expertise will guide critical business decisions, ensuring value, efficiency, and excellence across the entire project lifecycle. The organisation Develop, Build, Own and Operate a wide range of Energy Infrastructure including Battery Energy Storage (BESS), Hydro Power, Thermal Power, Hydrogen Production & Storage. Working directly for the client, you’ll be able to wear multiple hats simultaneously; Investor, Owner, Operator and Principal Contractor.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial aspects of renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and adding value at every stage.
  • Develop budgets, baseline strategies, and provide assurance on estimates, procurement processes, and lifecycle costs.
  • Deliver monthly forecasts, manage change and contingency, and drive process improvements for commercial governance.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, aligning cost, commercial, and control functions.
  • Present outputs and recommendations to clients and stakeholders, empowering them to make impactful decisions.
  • Mentor junior staff, upskilling teams in cost and commercial management.
  • Lead engagements nationally and internationally, representing the company with confidence and professionalism.

The successful candidate will have:

  • In-depth knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts and their application.
  • Proven experience in commercial management, ideally within renewable energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Exceptional communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in integrated, collaborative teams and thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • A track record of delivering excellence to clients, with experience in transmission and distribution (T&D) highly regarded.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels and drive performance.
