Position Summary

We are currently looking for senior associates, with a focus on public M&A and public company work, to join the M&A practice in our London office.

As well as possessing excellent academic credentials and legal knowledge, you should also be commercially-minded, with a solid grasp of the market and an enthusiasm for the cut-and-thrust of international deal-making.

Highly focused, you should display the organizational skills and composure needed to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced practice, working to tight deadlines and managing multiple workstreams and communication channels. Given the fluidity of the deal-making process, you should also be mentally agile—adept at thinking on your feet, and quickly adapting to changing circumstances.

Excellent oral and written communication skills will be major assets—enabling you to negotiate effectively, and to seamlessly manage the flow of information between practice groups, clients and stakeholders. Regularly working in large, international and multidisciplinary teams, you should also demonstrate a collaborative approach and an ease interacting with a wide range of legal and business professionals. Proactive and self-motivated, you should be eager to take ownership of your work product and demonstrate the skill, talent and commitment to deliver outstanding results.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Advising on public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity investments and corporate restructurings, as well as the corporate elements of equity capital markets transactions. This role will require a specific focus on public M&A and public company work.
  • All areas of English law corporate work for leading international and domestic corporate clients, including transaction management, drafting of relevant documentation, providing general corporate law advice and undertaking and/or coordinating legal due diligence.
  • Developing business relationships with the firm’s existing clients, as well as assisting partners and more senior associates with winning new business.
  • Pro-actively keeping abreast of relevant legal and regulatory developments and advising our clients as to the impact of those developments.
  • Conducting and overseeing legal research and analysis.
  • Providing education, training and mentoring to more junior associates.

Qualifications

  • 3-8 years post qualification experience in a top ranked corporate practice, with experience focusing on public mergers and acquisitions and public company work.
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker.
  • Commercial and business awareness.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects.

Location & Reporting

  • This is a London based role and reports to the London Corporate Partners.
